Step 1: Set up & Specifications

In order to have a fully functional touch screen music jukebox, you should have tagged music files (file types include mp3, ogg, wma etc).

If you have a decent mp3 collection, then you probably have everything you need. Most music files that you download will already be "tagged," which means that the music information (artist, album, title, etc) is located in the file. The TouchTone software uses this information to display song information.

Of course, some mp3s may not be tagged and some may need their tags cleaned up a bit. If an mp3 is not tagged, TouchTone will place it in the "No Artist" or "Not Tagged" category in the Artist List. (However, if you wish, you can set file masking options in TouchTone to have it use the information in the filename.)

Tagging Programs

To create/edit the tag information for your music files, the following programs seem to work well:

Computer Specifications

Other than tagged music files, you need to make sure your computer is compatible with the software and hardware mentioned in the next few steps. The following specifications should allow you to have a touch screen jukebox set up:

  • Windows XP, 2000, Vista, or Windows 7
  • At least Pentium 1 Ghz or better, with at least 512MB RAM
  • Monitor and video card capable of at least 1024 x 768 resolution
  • Serial or USB connection available

So, you have what you need... Well what are you waiting for?
